Fantastic location, just a 10 min walk from the Barbican Centre. 20 min walk to st pauls cathedral. High end finishes, Luxiourious feel, Modern and clean. Gorgeous reception which is a great first impression, decor, everywhere felt newly refurbished. Staff pleasant, breakfast of good quality. Stunning building in charterhouse square which is steeped in history. The room included everything you need. Biscuits and a good selection of teas and coffe provided, even 2 small bottles of water. Fridge, hairdryer, iron and safe. We were in room 412 a standard double room. Possibly positioned to the side or the back of the hotel. A bit of a view from the window. Crisp linen and super white fluffy towels, the hot water is very hot so be careful. Heated mirror in the bathroom which was a bonus.

We decided to stay at the Malmaison after it was announced there would be train strikes when we were due to travel back from a works Christmas party. Beautiful hotel and great facilities - loved the pressure of the waterfall shower, the bed was very comfortable, nice little thoughtful extras dotted around the room such as the mini box of lindt chocolates and bottle of water, and it was lovely to have Chez Mal just downstairs serving beautifully tasting food. We stored our luggage until check in which was no problem for the front desk staff and Farringdon tube station was just a few minutes walk away and served a number of lines - the Elizabeth line took us directly to Oxford Street in a 2 minute tube ride! Would stay here again.

Victor (didn't catch his surname is absolutely amazing. Very knowledgeable, made us feel welcomed and at ease. He explained the no-housekeeping scheme currently in place; bar vouchers/donate to charity in place of not having housekeeping. Such a joy to be checked in by him on first day. The front desk staff in general all stood out; always willing to help. We had one incident where housekeeping was late delivering water and milk, probably got scolded then took out that frustration on us by being rude and loud when it was finally delivered to room during a work conference call, but that was one person. Would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is in a beautiful courtyard, where two of the gates close at night, so you feel quite secure and it means it's quiet. Breakfast was great, and even though the hotel was fully booked one night, they have signs up to ensure guests booked a slot and were accommodated. Staff were really friendly and helpful. When we checked in we were offered free drink vouchers if we were happy to not have our room serviced, because we were staying 2 nights. I really like that option to do a bit towards sustainability. Close to 2 tube stations/bus stops and minutes walk to several local pubs and a couple of restaurants.

I have to say that Victor at the front desk and Duke with guest services were unbelievable. They went out of their way to ensure we had what we needed. I felt like we were friends by the time we left! Duke noticed we were standing in line at the front as existing guests and asked us if he could help us with anything. He ran and got us the towels and other items we needed a refresher in and without being asked, a bottle of still water as well. Victor was full of great suggestions on food and was humorous as well as really attentive in his local advice. These two made the stay!
